Yggdrasil

In Yggdrasil, the player is a surviving human sheltering in the branches of the world tree, Yggdrasil, following the end of the world, Ragnarök. They must visit the remaining realms and solve puzzles to reignite the Bifrost and save the world.

Origins:

The nine realms were once in balance, connected by Yggdrasil, the world tree who binds the realms by everlasting branch and root.

Then became the destruction of the cosmos, the end, Ragnarök.

After Asgard fell, realms became chaos. The seas of Asgard flooded Midgard, washing all away. Sköll and Hati, the wolves who chase the sun and moon, finally caught thier prey, plunging the realms into an endless darkness. Weather became unpredictable, then extreme, then unfathomable. The snows reaching even the leaves of Yggdrasil.

Only those who were able to escape to Yggdrasil were safe, for the time being…

They created a hollow, a place of refuge for all those who remain, the last gods sheltering amongst the peoples, diminished. This became Homestead.

It seemed as if the only thing the survivors were waiting for was oblivion.

Until the raven arrived.

The black wings of the all-father Odin were not destroyed forever, some shred of power still remaining, lost, unsought.

The raven brought a letter, A letter which caused rifts and tension in the sorrow of Homestead. Some thought the letter to be a ruse, a final cruel trick from the evils before they devour the world, while others believed a letter was the answer. The answer to what, they did not know.

This letter falls to you, refugee of Homestead, interpret the messages found beneath its runes to discover that which could rebirth the world.
